Do you have what it takes?

As a presenter, you don't want to be just "another meeting". My goal, as I'm most presenters have the same goal, is to "give meaning"(Five Simple Rules for Creating World Changing Presentations, 2009). I have been to so many professional developments where it was a struggle to get through. Watching these videos was eye-opening and should be a prerequisite to every presenter before they can present.

Simon Sinek mentions that he has rules that he has learned over time as someone who presents often. I struggle with presenting and it is very difficult for me when I am in public to speak like I can in a smaller setting. I often find myself doing any of the things he said you shouldn't do. But I do know that one of the best things he mentioned was to be myself. Making sure that I am comfortable in what I am wearing and not trying to be someone I'm not is the most valuable takeaway.

In her video, Nancy Duarte shares that you can change the world with a story. Making sure that your audience knows you are authentic can make all the difference. Knowing that she has found a shape for a presentation that all great presentations have, makes it possible for us to make a meaningful presentation of our own. At the end of the day, being a presenter doesn't mean that you have to be the best actor but you need to tap into the emotions of the audience to make the most impact.
